Alone by Edgar Allan Poe
From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.

I hope you can find it. She lives 20 minutes away from me I think. I thought that was cool. Have you ever heard Cruxshadows' version of Annabel Lee?

Really? That's so cool!=) And I hope so, I'm going to library sometime this week so I'll see if they have it=)

And I've never even heard about Cruxshadows, so no I haven't but I'd love to. The poem is just brilliant.

Do you have Limewire or a program to download songs?

Yeah, I do. Just tried to find it via Limewire but it isn't there. Hm, is the name of the song same as the poem?=)

Yeah. The Cruxshadows is the artist, Annabel Lee is the song. Do you want me to email it to you instead?

OMG I think I've just found it... It's haunting. Really, it gives me chills. And for some reason it reminds me of Nick Cave=)

I got the former comment late. Yeah, it scared me when I first heard it, especially when the music got louder.

Yeah, exactly. Thanx for telling me about it btw! Now I see the poem somehow differently, never thought of it as being haunting.

Welcome. Once you analyze it (which I had to do in English), you get the point. But I've heard that song before I even read it so it haunted me even then.
