Okay, so I wanted to post something here solely for the purpose of bumping down the last post (that makes me nervous) but didn't know what as this week has been extremely boring and uninteresting so far. Therefore I'm posting a bunch of my fave book quotes.

“Every man has inside himself a parasitic being who is acting not at all to his advantage.”  William S. Burroughs

"I reread Camus on suicide as the logical choice in an absurd world."

"On Monday mornings I would stare at the bottle of strychnine on my cabinet shelf. I would dream for hours of nuclear holocausts searing the streets of Manhattan clean, of streamrollers accidentally flattening my wife, of taxis taking my rival Dr. Ecstein off into the East River, of a teen-age baby-sitter of ours shrieking in agony as I plowed away at her virgin soil."
Luke Rhinehart   "The Dice Man"

"There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie and Dim. And we sat in the Korova Milkbar, trying to make up our razudoks what to do with the evening. The Korova Milkbar sold milk-plus; milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom, which is what we were drinking. This would sharpen you up and get you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence."

"What does God want? Does God want goodness or the choice of goodness? Is a man who chooses the bad perhaps in some way better than a man who has the good imposed upon him?"  Anthony Burgess "A Clockwork Orange"

"
The only thing I know is everything you love will die. The first time you meet that someone special, you can count on them one day being dead and in the ground."

"Since change is constant, you wonder if people crave death because it is the only way they can really get anything finished." Chuck Palahniuk "Survivor"

"All these people who say they want a life free from sexual compulsion, I mean forget it. I mean, what could ever be better than sex? For sure, even the worst blow job is better than, say, sniffing the best rose... watching the greatest sunset. Hearing children laugh. I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a hot-gushing, butt-cramping, gut-hosing orgasm." Chuck Palahniuk "Choke"

"One minute was enough, Tyler said, a person had to work hard for it, but a minute of perfection was worth the effort. A moment was the most you could ever expect from perfection." Chuck Palahniuk "Fight Club"

"You always said, don’t face a problem, burn it. Well, now I’ve done both. Good-bye, Captain.” Ray Bradbury "Fahrenheit 451"

"One always dies too soon -- or too late. And yet one's whole life is complete at that moment, with a line drawn neatly under it, ready for the summing up. You are -- your life, and nothing else." Jean Paul Sartre "No Exit"

Aw, that's made me feel incredibly better. I'm such a bookworm. If you decide to read any of those books you probably won't regret it=)
